This joint announcement by the Coalition and WTPF representatives was made at the Coalition’s annual luncheon on December 12, 2008 at the DC Coast Restaurant.

“The Metropolitan Washington Work/Life Coalition is pleased and honored to join WTPF, a distinguished, broad based regional Human Resource Association with membership consisting of over 125 companies and 1,000 professionals.   As work/life has become more mainstreamed within HR, this is a logical and critical step for the Coalition to take” comments Kathy Kadilak, Chair of the Coalition.

During its twelve year history, the Coalition has been credited with helping to “grow” the work/life message in this region, primarily through education and awareness activities, professional networking, and recognition of leaders in the field.  Many of the Coalition’s member organizations have won national recognition as “Employers of Choice” or Best Company’s to Work For.”

Several Coalition members are nationally recognized leaders in the work/life field, including the luncheon’s keynote speaker, Donna Klein, CEO of Corporate Voices for Working Families.

“Now in its 47th year, WTPF provides a platform of cooperation for those engaged in Human Resources functions for all types of businesses throughout the Washington, DC Metropolitan area.    WTPF seeks to provide programs and services which will promote the exchange of ideas and best practices, examine common problems, and develop a collaborative environment among members and organizations, comments Laura Letts, President, WTPF.

For companies to remain competitive and attract and retain top talent, it is essential that work/life strategies (at all stages of an employee’s career) be top of mind, and be carefully designed to meet the needs of employees and deliver bottom line business results.       We are very excited about joining forces with the Metropolitan Washington Work/Life Coalition.”
